Can prospective patients find your practice, understand your services, and feel comfortable booking? Acupuncture SEO starts with helping people find you online and giving them useful information when they do.

Darcy Sullivan of Propel Marketing & Design returned to the Acupuncture Marketing School podcast to explore these topics with host Michelle. Their conversation covered Google Business Profile, website content, AI search, and practical details that make finding and visiting an acupuncture practice easier.

Below are five takeaways you can put into practice, along with clarifications to keep in mind while watching the interview.

Let's dive in...

Takeaway 1: Look at Your Practice Through a New Patient’s Eyes

One of the most practical parts of the conversation was about something easy to overlook: helping people find your office.

You know where to park, which entrance to use, and what happens at the first visit. A new patient may not.

Look at your website and business listings for information that could make arriving easier:

  • Current exterior photographs

  • A recognizable entrance

  • Parking instructions

  • Suite or floor information

  • Accessibility details

  • Clear directions for requesting an appointment

If parking is complicated, a simple photograph or diagram may explain it better than a paragraph.

Put important information where patients can find it. That might be your location page, appointment confirmation, or first-visit instructions.

Try this: Ask someone unfamiliar with your office to use your website to plan a visit. What questions remain unanswered?

Takeaway 2: Give Important Services Room for Explanation

In the interview, Michelle raised a common website question: is a paragraph on a general services page enough?

A general services page gives visitors an overview. A dedicated page can help explain a priority service in greater detail.

For example, if your practice offers cosmetic acupuncture or microneedling, prospective patients may have questions about:

  • What the service involves

  • Who provides it

  • What an appointment looks like

  • How to prepare

  • What questions to discuss before booking

  • How to contact your practice

Create a separate page when you have useful, distinct information to share. Keep descriptions and clinical claims accurate to your services and scope of practice.

Try this: Choose one service page and compare it with the questions your team hears before appointments. Add the information people need to make an informed inquiry.

Takeaway 3: Use AI With Your Practice’s Voice and Expertise

The episode discusses using AI to improve existing content instead of asking it to invent your entire marketing message.

Start with information that reflects your practice:

  • A provider’s explanation of a service

  • Questions patients commonly ask

  • An existing article that needs updating

  • A transcript from an educational video

  • Your approach to a first appointment

Give the tool context about your audience and writing style. Then review the result carefully.

Check that the draft accurately represents your services, contains no invented facts, and sounds like something your team would say.

A topic suggestion is not proof of search demand. An AI-generated answer is not a verified clinical source or a personalized SEO strategy.

Try this: Choose one older article. Identify what is missing or unclear, then use AI to help organize a revision based on your own expertise.

Takeaway 4: Keep Your Business Information Current

Your Google Business Profile and other listings should accurately represent your practice.

Review your:

  • Business name

  • Address and suite number

  • Phone number

  • Website and appointment links

  • Customer-facing hours

  • Categories and services

  • Photographs

  • Official social profiles, where the feature is available

Pay particular attention after a move, rebrand, schedule change, or provider change.

Use your actual business name rather than adding search phrases to it. Keep hours accurate to how the practice operates; do not extend them simply to appear open in search.

Try this: Review your website and the listings patients are most likely to encounter. Correct information that could prevent someone from reaching you.

Takeaway 5: Show Genuine Connections to Nearby Communities

Michelle asked about reaching people in surrounding towns when a practice has one physical location.

The useful question is: what would someone in that community need to know about visiting your practice?

A relevant page might explain:

  • Where your office actually is.

  • How patients from that area can reach you.

  • Services available at your location.

  • Genuine partnerships or community activities.

  • Practical details that help someone decide whether to travel.

Avoid creating a series of nearly identical pages with only the town names changed. Do not imply you have an office where you do not.

A community event or local video can support your content when it has a genuine connection to your practice and audience. It is not a shortcut to rankings.

Try this: Before creating a nearby-community page, identify what useful information it would offer beyond your existing location page.

Clarifications to Keep in Mind While Watching

Google Review Requests Should Be Fair

During the conversation, we discussed automated review gating and manually selecting people expected to leave positive reviews.

The important clarification is that Google prohibits selectively soliciting positive reviews, whether the selection happens through software or manually.

If you request reviews, do so without filtering people by expected satisfaction, offering incentives, or directing the content they should include. Follow your profession’s requirements and your practice’s privacy policies. Google’s review policy.

A Missing Review Does Not Establish Why It Was Removed

The recording suggests that exclusively positive reviews might reveal review gating and that older star-only reviews may disappear because they lack written comments.

We do not have evidence establishing those explanations. A missing review alone does not tell you what caused its removal.

Yelp Has Different Rules

Keeping your Yelp business information accurate is useful. However, Yelp tells businesses not to ask customers for reviews. Do not apply a Google review-request process to every platform. Yelp’s review guidance

Useful Local Pages Matter More Than Swapping City Names

The issue with repetitive location pages is not that all repeated wording automatically causes a penalty. Pages created mainly to capture similar searches without offering useful value can fall under Google’s doorway-abuse policies. Google’s spam policies

Features and Search Results Change

The recording discusses AI Mode, social-profile links, and business-profile questions and answers as they appeared at the time.

Available features can vary. Keep essential patient information on your own website rather than depending on one platform feature.

Searching for your practice can reveal how information appears in a particular situation, but one search is not a complete ranking report. Results can vary by location, account, query, and time.
